Discovery Center Asks City Commission For Higher Rates
BACKGROUND MEMO
In 2012, the City of Manhattan opened the Flint Hills Discovery Center(FHDC). This 35,000 square foot facility explores the science and cultural history of the Flint Hills of Kansas through permanent and temporary exhibits and accompanying programs for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. FHDC is the “attractions” component of the $50 million Sales Tax Revenue (STAR) bonds awarded to the City by the State of Kansas, and it is the centerpiece of the South End portion of Downtown Redevelopment.
